Project summary

Client: POLYPOINT AG, publisher of workforce management and hospital planning solutions

Solution: Enovacom Integration Engine

Impacts:

  • More than 1,400 operational interfaces.
  • Installation in 45 minutes compared to several hours with the previous solution.
  • Complete automation of administrative processes (badges, schedules, emails).
  • IHE and FHIR compatibility achieved across the entire ecosystem.

Founded in 1986, POLYPOINT AG has evolved from a simple staff scheduling platform to a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for workforce management, appointment scheduling, and bed allocation. But as functionality increased, so did the demands on the technical infrastructure. In an increasingly interconnected healthcare environment, POLYPOINT faced the challenge of ensuring the interoperability of its systems. “We had to move away from our isolated solutions,” recalls Peter Gmeiner, Head of Portfolio and Partner Management at POLYPOINT. “Our customers needed more than just planning, they needed integration.”

Thanks to Enovacom Integration Engine, POLYPOINT has transformed its technical architecture and can now offer truly interoperable solutions to its 3,000 healthcare customer organisations.

The customer’s challenge

POLYPOINT faced several major challenges in its technological evolution:

  • The obsolescence of their proprietary interface solution, which was no longer able to meet the growing requirements for interoperability on its own. Internal teams were no longer able to maintain and upgrade this system, which had become too complex.
  • The inability to guarantee interoperability with modern healthcare industry standards (IHE, FHIR), limiting the integration of their solutions into modern hospital IT ecosystems.
  • The complexity of deployments, which required significant resources and lengthy installation times, impacting customer satisfaction and the company’s competitiveness.

Why did POLYPOINT choose Enovacom?

  1. Recognized technical expertise: Enovacom has a thorough understanding of the interoperability standards (IHE, FHIR, HL7) that are essential in the current healthcare ecosystem, ensuring native integration with all hospital IT systems.

  2. Flexible and customized partnership: the Enovacom partner program offers a perfectly tailored OEM model, allowing POLYPOINT to seamlessly integrate the technology into its own solutions via powerful APIs.

  3. Autonomy and support: POLYPOINT has all the expertise it needs to deploy solutions independently, with access to a comprehensive technical support portal if needed.

Our intervention

Enovacom deployed its integration engine as a middleware solution at the heart of the POLYPOINT ecosystem, radically transforming the company’s technical architecture.

  • Key points of implementation:
    • The Enovacom Integration Engine became the central hub for all data exchanges within the POLYPOINT ecosystem.
    • Immediate compliance with IHE and FHIR standards, enabling interoperability with all hospital IT systems.
    • Gradual transformation of legacy connectors to standardized and interoperable interfaces.
    • Support for two-way data exchanges for workforce management, scheduling, and payroll systems.
  • Advanced automation process:
    • PDFs of time cards are generated by POLYPOINT, then automatically sorted and distributed by Enovacom according to organizational unit.
    • The system automatically identifies recipients based on the file name.
    • Total elimination of human intervention for recurring administrative processes.
“Enovacom Integration Engine made POLYPOINT compatible with IHE, and thanks to the FHIR standard, proprietary interfaces could be improved to become interoperable with all hospital systems.”
